Recipe of the Month - Earl Grey Dried Cherry Mustard

Michele Lillie

Try this delightfully different take on a flavored mustard. Utilizing our popular Earl Grey tea, this mustard can be enjoyed on meat, as a spread on a sandwich or as a condiment on a charcuterie board or a cheese plate.

Enjoy with a cup of any of our Earl Grey teas.

Ingredients

  • 2 Tablespoons Earl Grey tea leaves
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 2 cups dried, sour cherries (may substitute dried cranberries)
  • ½ cup Dijon or whole grain mustard
  • ¼ cup dry mustard powder

Directions

Step 1

Place tea leaves in a medium bowl. Pour boiling water over them and steep, covered, for 5 minutes. Strain tea into a blender, discarding the leaves.

Step 2

Add dried cherries and let them soak for 5-10 minutes to soften.

Step 3

Add mustard and mustard powder. Blend until thoroughly pureed.

Step 4

Use warm, cold or at room temperature. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for several weeks.
